During the four weeks of Advent we celebrate christmas with christmas markets in the cities.
The history of christmas markets goes back to the late Middle Ages (the christmas market in Dresden was
first held in 1434 and is one of the oldest christmas markets).
You can find yummy toasted almonds, christmas cookies, gingerbread hearts, candied fruits; you can also buy handmade toys, books
and christmas tree decorations and ornaments. And it´s a wonderful place to meet friends and drinking hot mulled wine.
("Glühwein" as we say here in Germany is usually prepared from red wine,
heated and spiced with cinnamon sticks, vanilla pods, cloves, citrus and sugar)
