High Fidelity

Maybe you remember this Marchesa dress from one of my previous post
back in December when I was not sure if I should or should
not attend a wedding in this dress.
The day the dress arrived and I opened the box I somehow had the feeling
this dress was something I should not wear to a wedding although the bride said she would wear a red dress;
maybe I was too shy or I listened to reason ;)

I wore it for the very first time to a concert of spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé at the Tonhalle (actually build as a planetarium) in Dusseldorf. Me and classic concerts ;) ...but she was charming and laughing about herself while singing at the end barefooted.
I wore the Marchesa dress with a pair of Givenchy lace heels;one of my lucky purchases in the sales: I stumbled across them at 6.55pm in the shopping window and had exactly 5 minutes to think about "buy or not to buy" before the store closed at 7pm. Decisions like these are nothing for me ;)
what I wore: ♡
dress: Marchesa
cardigan: my very beloved Marni cardigan from 2001
shoes: Givenchy
tights: Wolford
And last but not least:
Freddie Mercury +  Montserrat Caballé
"Barcelona"

  7. You are really very stylish, Martina! Hats off to your style sense, loving everything here from the dress all the way down to the tights! Speaking of tights, have you seen the Wolford fan tights that Victoria Beckam wore and has been creating quite a buzz lately?! That brand is really pricey though compared to my regular Target tights, haha... Is it worth the investment? =)

    Yes, I do remember your post about thinking of wearing this to the wedding. Glad to see that you finally got to wear it at the fabulous Opera!

    Have a great week ahead, dear Martina!!

    And as you say, lots of sunshine to you!!

  9. Ahh, I love Montserrat! Actually I love them all (yes, even Pavarotti, although I prefer Domingo and others ;-) But these days I go preferably to rock concerts... I've actually been to the Tonhalle a few times. Anyway, such a beautiful dress... I remember when you first showed it and I can guess you would have stolen the show away from the bride if you had worn it ;-)

    Love those Givenchy shoes as well! I almost bought them on sale last season, but decided on a another pair instead. I should have just bought both! Have a wonderful new week my dear!

  22. Ooh Martina

    Those shoes are divine! Did you decide to wear the dress? I think it's so unusual that a bride is wearing red on her big day. Pourquois pas, then? :)

  25. Hi Martina

    Glad to see the dress making up apperarance at last! Love the embroidery part, so beautiful...
    For some reason I thought you'd wear it with skin/tan coloured horsiery, just to show of the delicate silk against bare skin thing... Same is on the model...

    I adore those shoes so much!!! Did Sofie give you an idea? I know you two talk and she bought a pair a few months ago... Such a gorgeous creation. When you meet up you can wear them and your feet will look like twins :) Fashion can be fun, truly! :)

    Have a great day!

    @Mel
    Oh yes, the wedding was already back in December and the bride had no bridesmaid... hope this sounds not too sad ;) ... she was a happy bride in her red dress;)

    @LittleRus
    Happy Tuesday to you! Unfortunately it was and still is so cold here that I wore them with the black tights but have to agree that also with the lace details of the heels the dress/shoes look better with no tights in summer ... or spring ;)

  28. Beautiful ensemble! I loved those shoes when I first saw them, but dont have many opportunities to wear such footwear at the moment!
    As for your dress, it's a perfection,really! I'm looking for a similar one ALSO to go to a friend's wedding that'll take place this summer, but not in white (SHE'll be wearing a usual white wedding gown ;)! Maybe you could advise me smth,as you have an impecable taste? ;)
    Have a great week, Martina!

  29. Dear, sweet Martina, I think you are simply to great of a friend not to wear beautiful dress such as this to the wedding. It looks spectacular on you, so delicate, so chic - simply divine! Givenchy shoes are a dream, you are one lucky girl, I think the decision on the spot to get them was the right one! :-) I also love Opera and can only imagine what a beatiful consert it was! Thank you so very much for a tip on Lanvin doll. :-) Unfortunately, at this point I have to say that the price is a bit too high for me. I just purchased my Chanel cardigan + (I am letting you on a little secret)there are wonderful changes that are coming very soon into my life. They will need a large investment and I have to be a good girl and count every dollar until then. I, of course, will share everything with you once everything will be set and done somewhere in the beginning of April. :-) Well, I hope I did not talk your ears off. :-) Have a wonderful day, dear Martina!

  31. Did I tell you it´s snowing outside and did
    I tell you cannot handle compliments ;)

    @FG
    Oooh thank you so much. I´m sure you´ll look beautiful whatever you will choose to wear for friend´s wedding.
    Any good advises? ... Think, think, think Martina ;)

    I´m always in love with Lanvin dresses or also Marni has some beautiful monochrome dresses which are sweet for dressing up but you can easily wear them also later for a more casual look. And I love to take a look at ebay: Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, Rodarte or Monique Lhuillier have also some beautiful gowns for great prices!

    Hope this was helpful ;)
